Last night I watched a video of a very courageous young lady walking the halls of the hospital where she has been confined for some time now. As you may know by now, one of our students was seriously injured in an accident earlier this summer. She is now on the road to recovery, and we are hoping to see her in school on August 3rd as we begin a new school year. Regardless of when she is able to come to school, her Springs Valley Elementary family is thinking of Lilly and her family. Get well soon, Lilly!
There has been much activity in and around school this summer. Typically a great time for projects, this summer has been no exception. In the elementary school, classrooms are receiving a fresh coat of paint, and they look fantastic! Maintenance staff have been hard at work, as usual, cleaning rooms, shampooing and polishing floors, moving furniture, and a variety of other tasks to prepare for the upcoming school year. The swimming pool area is getting an overhaul, including a new heating/cooling system, new lighting, and fresh paint.
School board members recently approved a major upgrade to our camera security system, and that work will begin soon. Teachers have been in and out of their classrooms all summer in preparation for the new students that will soon be sitting in front of them. Office staff have been busy as well, with year-end reports, ordering materials, etc.
The first day of school will be here soon, but thanks to the efforts of many to complete these important summer tasks, Springs Valley Elementary will be ready to greet new and familiar faces on August 3!
